Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd., parent of Yokohama Tire Corp., has started testing a new sensor that attaches to a tire’s “inner surface,” according to company officials.
Yokohama is developing the sensor and hopes to confirm its durability, as well as the ability of a newly developed system – Tire Air Pressure Remote Access System (TPRS) – to remotely monitor psi levels.
The Tokyo, Japan-based company also “aims to realize a new, value-added, tire-related business that provides tire pressure information and GPS location data.” …
