Continental Re-elected as Co-Chair of the Global Sustainability Initiative Tire Industry Project

Continental has been re-elected as Co-Chair of the Tire Industry Project (TIP) until 2029. Continental will continue to contribute resources and its long-standing expertise, especially in the areas of tire and road wear particles, end-of-life tires, sustainability assessment methods, and supply chain transparency. TIP is the global tire industry’s central forum for sustainability issues. As one of the founding members of TIP, Continental has been working with other leading global tire manufacturers since 2005 to address overarching environmental and sustainability issues affecting the tire industry.

鈥淲e are honored to have been re-elected as Co-Chair. TIP fosters collaboration within the tire industry, and beyond, with academia and other partners. Founded 20 years ago, TIP brings together the largest tire makers to tackle complex overarching sustainability challenges 鈥撀爏uch as advancing scientific understanding of tire wear emissions,鈥 said Christian K枚tz, head of Continental Tires and member of the Executive Board of Continental AG. 鈥淐ontinental takes its sustainability responsibilities seriously. This includes our active involvement in industry-wide associations. TIP is ideally suited to reinforce Continental麓s ambitious sustainability agenda.鈥

As Co-Chair companies, Continental together with Bridgestone, Goodyear and Michelin will actively shape the strategic direction of the Tire Industry Project.鈥

The Tire Industry Project is the tire industry鈥檚 leading global forum for sustainability issues, dealing with all phases of the tire lifecycle from raw material procurement to the manufacturing and use phase through to the management of end-of-life tires. Under the auspices of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), TIP brings together the ten leading tire companies, which jointly represent more than 60 percent of global tire production capacity.
